A recent study by economists at the University of Warwick found that happiness led to a 12% increase in productivity. As the research team put it, “We find that human happiness has large and positive causal effects on productivity. Positive emotions appear to invigorate human beings.” The research showed that happier workers used their time more effectively. Are you curious about what else employee happiness affects?
- Happy employees are more likely to seek a solution for a problem; unhappy employees are more likely to simply complain about it
- Happy employees are more confident and tend to make fewer mistakes
- Happy employees tend to learn new skills faster
- Happy employees have more motivation and energy
- Happy employees tend to take less sick days
Making employees happy pays off! According to an article on Forbes.com, happy employees also create happy customers. Which could be why CSI has won Stevie customer service awards.
Here are a few reasons CSI employees are happy:
I’ve worked for a lot of different companies over the years and I can’t tell you how special our company is, you can feel the vibe the moment you walk in the door.
– Nan Dawson
It’s amazing, the leadership and the mentorship that our CEO, Keith Stone, provides every day. Everyone here is passionate and caring and they’re in it for more than just a job, they’re in it because they love what they do and they love who they work with.
– David Disque
Our CEO, Keith Stone, does an incredible job making CSI the most employee friendly place I have ever worked. Disney better look out because this may be the new “happiest place on earth”! His fantastically upbeat and happy attitude spreads like wildfire to the rest of us, which makes us all want CSI to succeed and become a 100-year company. I feel extremely lucky to have found such a wonderful place to work.
– Patrick McNaughton
And so the adventure began…..I didn’t know what I was getting into just over a year ago with this company. However, it didn’t take me long to figure out life at CSI. CSI is more than just a “workplace” it is truly a family environment. No matter what roles or titles we all have, no one is looked down at or treated differently. Everyone is willing to help anyone that requires it. It’s certainly a team of amazing people across the board. No matter how crazy our day gets we all have each other’s backs. We have a common goal and that is to work together to get the project completed. My time here has been nothing short of a wild ride with uncountable twists, turns, and many more ups than I would have thought of. I am grateful for the opportunity to take myself to infinity and beyond on this wild and magical ride called CSI.
– Michael Brawn
So how do you increase your employees’ happiness?
- Plan team building activities
Whether it is a trip to Disney World, an airboat ride in the Everglades, a Ping Pong tournament, a fastest typist competition, or a cookie exchange, team activities encourage friendships, build lasting bonds between colleagues, encourage employee loyalty and are just fun!
- Help employees be healthier
Put Blue Zones Project to work at your worksite. Many of us spend the majority of our day at work – so having healthy choices at our workplace is key. Blue Zones Project offers solutions for worksites to inspire employees to be happier and more productive at work and at home. A healthier employee costs less, too. When workers feel better and more connected to their colleagues, they miss less work, make greater contributions, and have lower healthcare costs. Blue Zones Worksites complete actions to improve employee well-being, including adding standing desks, growing on-site gardens or offering regular biometric screenings. CSI is working towards becoming Blue Zone certified.
- Offer benefits beyond the basics
CSI offers employees access to fresh, healthy food every day through our in office micro-market provided by Delicious Nutritious Markets (DNM). DNM provides corporations with an easy way to provide your employees with sustainable energy, increasing productivity and ultimately improving your business’s bottom line! Their micro-market set-up with self-checkout technology powered by Yoke Payments is clean and simple.
- Insist on laughter
Our office is constantly full of laughter. Laughter energizes teams, provides foundations for friendships, encourages positive attitudes and evokes a sense of community.
- Spend time with employees
Our CEO, Keith Stone, and our Managing Director, David Disque, are often found with their sleeves rolled up playing an intense game of ping pong. One key to encouraging employee happiness is having leadership spend time with employees fostering good relationships.
