Liane Sanson joined CSI globalVCard in 2008 as a regional sales manager. She has since elevated her position multiple times to her current role of Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Operations – Advertising. Liane’s long history with the company has yielded many accomplishments for both CSI and its partners, including record sales and revenue growth. Today, we sat down and asked Liane to tell us her story.
What drew you to globalVCard originally? And how has globalVCard changed since?
Ten years ago I was working at a local golf club where our CEO, Keith Stone, was a member. I got to know Keith and David over my time there and eventually came to work for CSI globalVCard. At the time, there were only a few employees and the business was focused on fuel card business through our global-fleet program. Shortly after, our payables solution was introduced and the business has been in major growth ever since. I have loved to see the evolution and meet so many great people along the way that have joined our CSI family.
You have been with globalVCard for over seven years. What makes you stay?
I used the word family earlier. I care deeply for my colleagues and our business. CSI has always made me feel like this business is my own and the success is up to us all. But also, the culture and to be able to sell products that actually help business become efficient and earn additional revenue at no cost – who wouldn’t want to sell that?
You lead the team to open the Toronto office, what did you most enjoy about your time in Toronto? What did you learn from your experience?
My experience in Toronto is definitely one for the books. The opportunity was incredible. Toronto is one of the best cities in the world. I enjoyed the life that city brings – the hustle, the daily interaction, and the overall energy. I learned what it is like to really build from the ground up. CSI was and continues to be very successful in Canada. Our payment solution was needed and well received. We built relationships with great brands like the Four Seasons and Fairmont Hotels.
What do you miss most about living in Toronto?
My family and I miss Toronto often. Canadians are some of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met. What I miss most is the friends we made, the office downtown on the PATH, the views, the weather, walks in the ravine, the entertainment, the food, the markets, should I go on?
If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Yellow – like the sun.
How do you balance your career at globalVCard and family?
I love to have a lot going on. I enjoy life greatly and am so thankful for all I have in my career and family. I have to give a lot of credit to my fantastic husband who cares for our two young girls. He does a lot to manage the house so we can get quality family time in the evenings. His support allows me to give my all to my career and I am so grateful for that.
